Glenn Handford, only recently confirmed as MidCoast Council's General Manager, tendered his resignation at yesterday's Council Meeting (20 December).  Glenn Handford is apparently leaving for a position in the private sector. Rumours have been in existence for at least six months that Mr Handford would not remain with the new Council for long following the completion of the merger process and the election of the new Council. Some of those persistent rumours had even named the company that he was expected to join. However at this stage no details of Mr Handford's new appointment have been officially announced.

Following confirmation of his appointment in July, Mr Handford had reaffirmed his enthusiasm and commitment to continue serving in the General Manager role of the newly merged Council. Mr Handford has had over 22 years at Great Lakes/MidCoast Council beginning as Director of Environment and Planning for Great Lakes in 1994 and then taking on the General Manager role in 2010.
