Rain Brings Relief to the Fire Season, But is a Mixed Blessing.

The North Arm Cove Rural Fire Service had a very quiet month in February, with no call-outs However the 1st March made up for this in spades, with three call-outs on that day. The torrential rain overnight meant that many homes were flooded. Where the water was deep enough the Brigade was able to deploy its portable pump to remove it. A tree branch which fell on a resident's car also brought down a line so it was once more into the breach (or rather the steady, soaking, wetting rain) to close the road until the electricity people came who quickly ascertained that the line was a telephone cable not an electricity one. At least the recent rain has brought an abrupt end to the fire season, and we can breathe a little easier now.

We have had no further word on when the Community Protection Plan will be made public. However residents will be informed as soon as is practicable after its release.

Please remember we are always in need of more members, so if there is anyone out there who would like to join us please contact Brigade Captain Neal Cook, or come to a meeting, which are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.00pm at the Fire Station.
