You may not need a microscope but a magnifying glass is beneficial when searching for mentions of North Arm Cove in the Capital Works proposal presented to this week's Council Meeting.

In the report for September-November 2017, we find that construction and sealing of The Esplanade (East) is scheduled to occur this November. This project was allocated Federal "Roads to Recovery" funding back in 2014.

A new Executive Committee was elected with great appreciation and thanks expressed for the outstanding contribution to the Cove community by retiring President Doug Kohlhoff, Vice President Len Yearsley, Treasurer Kath Kohlhoff and Committee member Tony Hann.

The meeting did not elect a President but held this over, as allowed by the Constitution, until the first new Executive Committee meeting to be held in November.

The Residents Association has just celebrated the past 50 years of community achievement in the Cove. A wonderful record indeed - but there is no time to rest on our laurels.

We now have a newly elected Council. Its attention will mostly be drawn elsewhere, addressing infrastructure backlogs, new developments and the demands of the big towns in the north.

We need the Cove's voice to be heard above the clamour. Plus there are local challenges to be addressed, goals to be fulfilled and projects to be implemented. Working together, we can ensure the Residents Association begins its...

More than three months ago the North Arm Cove Hall was filled to overflowing with people from Bundabah, Pindimar and the Cove as well as places further afield. They were there to hear about a Development Application submitted to Council by LDF Enterprises for a private quarry to be located close to the southern boundary of Bundabah. Following that meeting, community members from across the area submitted a record number of objections to the quarry

With several of the current office bearers and committee members taking a break in this the Residents Association's 51st year, the Association is in need of several community-minded volunteers willing to step up and take their place. We need to maintain this long tradition of community service and representation. With a Council area of 10,000 square kilometres and a population of over 90,000 our small village on the Council's southern outskirts needs an active association to ensure its needs are addressed.
