North Arm Cove Residents Association

Concerns, that the North Arm Cove community’s long felt need for improved water access has not been addressed, feature strongly in NACRA's response to Council's draft recreational boating strategy document.

The Community Association's response highlights some of the omissions and misunderstandings in the report and seeks meetings with Council prior to the draft being formally adopted.

Great Lakes Council has placed its draft Recreation Boating Infrastructure Strategy on public exhibition inviting comments and submissions which must be received by Council by 25 th May. This is an important document as the plan will determine expenditure priorities for the future. The North Arm Cove Residents Association is currently preparing a response.

Residents are encouraged to attend the public meeting next Monday as the changes proposed would significantly affect North Arm Cove.

The Department of Planning and Infrastructure has released a Consultation Draft that if implemented will allow the re subdivision of Non Urban Land in North Arm Cove. All the subdivided land from the Pacific Highway to the Village is involved; 2831 landowners including Walker Corporation and Great Lakes Council as landowners. This is not merely rezoning the non urban land to residential.

The proposed amendment amongst the 40 pages of information published states that if 60% of landowners controlling 60% of the land agree by postal ballot to proposed Development Plans re subdivision may be possible. The issue...
