UPDATE - Wednesday 14 December 2016

This week the Land and Environment Court determined the injunction concerning land owned by LDF* Enterprise Pty Ltd at Fame Cove has been upheld and will remain in force until 24 March 2017.

Remediation work outlined in the clean-up notice served on Friday 2 December will continue during this period.

Council's Director of Environment and Planning, Lisa Schiff said “we are taking steps to ensure areas of immediate concern are addressed and that the site is appropriately managed into the future”.

Last Saturday's meeting of the Residents Association was an opportunity both to celebrate the achievements of the past twelve months and to contemplate the busy time planned for the Cove community in 2017. A wide range of issues of significance to the local community were addressed during the meeting. Further details can be found in the attached minutes.

Guests Shauna and Skye from Karuah Pharmacy explained the trial of a new delivery service to North Arm Cove. This service should be a boon to those many locals with ongoing scripts and it wll also be possible to arrange delivery...

Serious environmental damage to the iconic Fame Cove/North Arm Cove waterfront site in Port Stephens has prompted Mid Coast Council to slap a stop work order on owner and developer Mr Dong Fang Lee and his company Tea Garden Farms*.

The most recent assault on the site is a new, unapproved road that runs like a huge scar from the waterfront, up Fame Mountain to the summit and then beyond towards Piggy’s Beach, adjacent to Port Stephens marine park and a section of Myall Lakes National Park.

Stronger communities cheque

Another year has almost slipped away from us. Politicians have headed home. TV stations have moved into silly-season programming. It is time, once again, for bush fires, blow flies and beaches. And it seems, as December begins, we are already well into the 2016 Christmas Party season.

At the next Residents Association meeting (10am on 10 December) there will be yet another chance for you to come together, with others from our village community, to celebrate. (Agenda attached.)

UPDATE 23 November: It is Official. The recommendation below was approved at today's Council meeting.

Recommendations from the Stronger Communities Assessment Committee , to go to next Wednesday's Council meeting for final approval, include a grant of $47,940 to the North Arm Cove Residents Association for the development of our "community precinct".

The Cove application was one 76 submitted for a range of projects. The requests for grants totalled $2.3 million. The Assessment Panel met in October to consider the applications and the report detailing the recommended funding, just published (18 November) on...
