In the latest Ministerial reshuffle announced yesterday (19 December) our local Federal MP, Dr David Gillespie, has been allocated the role of Assistant Minister for Children and Families, part of the Social Services Portfolio. For the past year and half Gillespie had been contributing to the Health Portfolio as Assistant Minister for Health.

"I have very much enjoyed working with the various health stakeholders and my department in developing new policies to address the maldistribution of Australia’s health workforce" Dr Gillespie said. "As the Minister now responsible for Children and Families within the Social Services portfolio headed up by...

Kate Washington, our State MP, is our guest at the October 8 Residents Meeting. (Agenda attached below.)

There are many recent and planned changes that directly affect us which are the responsibility of our State Government . We've heard a lot about the Council merger and that certainly will have a significant impact on us. Yet there are other issues which seem to be slipping under the radar.

For example, what do we know about the planned privatisation of public hospitals? The privatisation of Sports and Recreation Centres? The Privatisation of the Land and Property Information department? Are...

dougkSun, 29/05/2016 - 11:28pm

The Saturday June 11th meeting of the Residents Association will have a little bit of something for everybody.

At our April meeting we had a Federal Candidates Debate between Peter Alley (Country Labor) and David Gillespie (Nationals). The June meeting gives Greens candidate Julie Lyford a chance to introduce herself to the Cove community and answer our questions.

The past month saw massive changes to local government in NSW including Great Lakes Council being subsumed within the newly created Mid-Coast Council. Former Deputy Mayor Len Roberts will outline to the community what is happening with the...

David & Peter

We are now part of the Federal electorate of Lyne - tucked in very close to its southern extremity. The election may be on July 2. So who are our candidates? And what do they know about North Arm Cove?

April 9 is the Cove Community's chance to meet with two of the candidates, not just for us to hear their policies, but for us to make sure that whoever is successful in our new electorate is well aware of our village, of its needs and of the hopes and feelings of the members of our...
