Further mitigation through hazard reduction burning is being planned in an area west of the Community Hall on private land. As always, seeking approval from the multitude of private land managers ( owners ) is proving challenging. Kirsty has been doing a colossal job with issuing letters to owners.

This plan identified specific areas to conduct hazard reduction activities with the purpose to provide strategic areas of fire protection advantage which will reduce the speed and intensity of bush fires, and reduce the potential for spot and crown fire development. The objective is that in the event of a bush fire, this will assist the local brigade to conduct suppression through indirect attack (back burning).

During the first week of May I made a visit to the Cove ...

Ian explained that the purpose of the plan was to improve the community and fire fighter capacity to prepare for and survive bush fires.

In the coming weeks the NSW Rural Fire Service will be aiming to conduct a hazard reduction burn in the area identified in the Community Protection Plan situated to the west of the North Arm Cove Community Hall. This hazard reduction has taken considerable planning and is designed to help protect the community.

The North Arm Cove brigade will be responsible for implementing this hazard reduction, and will undertake a mail box drop in the near future to further advise the community of the proposed hazard reduction.

A further hazard reduction that was identified for Baromee Hill is...

Protection Plan work continues at the Community Hall today (Tuesday 17) with workers busy completing the installation of window shutters. These special shutters, now being fitted to the windows on the western side, will reduce radiant heat exposure into the hall helping to make it a safer place.

In the event that it is necessary for any residents to take refuge in the Hall as a place of last resort, these shutters will be able to be wound down from inside the Hall.

Dear Community Members

Recently I met with representatives from the various Cove community groups to review and discuss the issues that were first raised with me during the beginning of my work in the community. This process would allow me to ensure that I had in fact addressed ( in some shape or form, or where possible) the concerns that were raised.

The outcome of this meeting did provide me with some positive feedback, and also provided me with a couple of a issues that were still of some concern. ...

Dear Community
2016 is certainly off to a flying start. I cannot believe how quick Australia Day has disappeared from my memory and that we are now staring down the barrel to the Easter festivities.
I would imagine that most people in the community have noticed the activity over the past week in the Cove.
