Like trying to solve all issues , we first need to be sure of where the blockage exists , then resolve the way to unblock it. CLEARLY the common blockage point for our Community to gain permission in order to be able to achieve construction is the CONSENT AUTHORITY which has blocked our efforts for so many years now. That Consent Authority has been the Great Lakes Council who now control the three Merged Councils that have become Mid Coast Council , still based in Forster .

With the latest Boat ramp report said to be going before Council on Wednesday 28 June at Gloucester & the recommendation (#1) being considered is “THAT NO BOAT RAMP BE CONSTRUCTED IN THIS POSITION” means that again Council has decided that this waterfront location & in fact all of the Village area of North Arm Cove is to remain as the only waterfront location in coastal NSW without a trailer boat ramp. The second most important issue after the weather, when boating, is the facilities available at either end of your journey.
The destination of Lemon Tree Passage is perhaps the best exponent of this need on the Port Stephens waterway .
I am talking about the easy of how you get on & get off your boat plus the launching & retrieval facilities at both start & end of the journey.
Having just attended “Lemon Jam” music day at Lemon Tree Passage & experienced their new , almost completed facilities, I”m impressed.

The joint announcement on Thursday 4 February between the Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Hon Scot MacDonald MLC & the Mayor of Great Lakes Council Councillor Jan McWilliams that they will jointly fund a study on the vexed question of providing a trailer boat ramp for North Arm Cove, is a positive move forward towards providing this number one priority on the Coves “wish list”.

It gives rise to the possibility that this vital piece of infrastructure could be constructed before the North Arm Cove settlement turns 100 years old in 2017.

The week before the NSW State Election the Government announced as one of their policies, the speeding up of the provision of water & sewage projects.

Of particular interest was the local electorate DECISION that if the State Liberal & National Parties are re elected as Government ,(opinion Polls say this will happen) then both water & sewage WOULD BE DELIVERED to the areas of Pindimir, Bundabah & North Arm Cove in the next 4 year term of Government. (2015-2019).

Whilst this will set the dogs barking at North Arm Cove , these decisions are requirements for public...
