Mooring a runabout is costlypeterfSun, 09/07/2017 - 5:35pm

As North Arm Cove residents come to terms with MidCoast Council’s decision not only to reject the proposed boat ramp at Medina Bay but also to rule out a public boat ramp being constructed anywhere else in the village area, those keen to get on the water need to consider other options,

One involves investigating the practicality of mooring a small runabout in the Cove waterway. The viability of mooring a boat has been enhanced by the recent completion of official dinghy launch ramps at Casuarina Park and Water Street. Some residents also keep and launch dinghies at Medina...

Paying for emergency servicespeterfSun, 04/06/2017 - 4:42pm

The proposed introduction of a new Fire and Emergency Services Levy has been put on hold with the NSW Government arguing that new modelling has indicated that the new system would have had an unexpected and unfair impact on a range of land owners, including the owners of some commercial and industrial property. It is even possible the levy will be abandoned altogether.

JUNE 2017

The good news is that the Multi Purpose Practice Court has been completed. David Read and his crew started work on 1 May and the slab (double in size) poured on 2 May. The basketball hoop was transferred to the western side of the slab to improve access and space for all. A great job by Dave and the boys, very much appreciated.

Olympic Fencing planned to start the chain link fence and roof on 22 May with completion on 23rd. All went to plan and the facility is ready...

An intense legal battle between the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) and Mr Phillip Dong Fang Lee’s LDF Enterprise, the owner of an iconic 409-hectare waterfront site on Port Stephens’ northern shore, has resulted in defeat for Mr Lee.

At issue was the right of the OEH to enter the site, which stretches from Bundabah, to Fame Cove, to investigate the reported existence of Aboriginal heritage sites, including middens, and, if confirmed, to assess whether they have been damaged.

This assessment process was part of a wider effort by the NSW Government and MidCoast Council to...

The tennis club isn’t just about on-court play. We also like to get together socially for a pizza night at the community centre. At a general meeting on April 27 ( see minutes below ) the members decided that for the rest of the year it would be scheduled, when possible, for the first Saturday of the month, starting on May 6th. This was a great success. It also provided the opportunity for the club to hold another general meeting ( see minutes below ) to deal with several matters from the previous meeting. No decision has been made as...
