MidCoast Lockdown Lifted - for now
Information
dougkFriday, 10 September 2021 - 10:07pmThe Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, announced earlier this evening.that, as of midnight tonight (Friday 10 September), the lockdown of the MidCoast local government area has been lifted.
MidCoast Council had not been included in the regions released from lockdown announced on Thursday 9 September due to a single Covid case in Booral. However the Booral case had acquired the infection outside the Midcoast area and was said to be in isolation while infectious. (They were subsequently taken to John Hunter Hospital.) Given these circumstances a review of the decision to keep MidCoast in lockdown had been sought.
Should another case be identified in the MidCoast Council area then the lockdown will be reapplied.
Check the Government website https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/rules/affected-regions for the restrictions/conditions that still apply following this release from lockdown.
Karuah, Raymond Terrace and Newcastle remain in lockdown.
