🚨 We Were Lucky Last Year. Let’s Not Rely on Luck This Season. 🚨
Did you know that last fire season:
· NAC RFS responded to more than 200 incidents
· More than 60 incidents occurred directly within the North Arm Cove area
· Over 40 bushfires impacted non-urban properties
· More than 14,300 hectares burned across NAC and surrounding areas, with the tragic loss of a firefighter and significant losses to property, vehicles, infrastructure, flora and fauna.
· Over 920 hectares burned within North Arm Cove, Carrington and Tahlee
· The Inland Way, Tenterfield and Carrington Road fires burned through more than 250 non-urban lots
· Multiple assets were lost, including vehicles, caravans, structures, as well as significant flora and fauna
· NAC RFS remained available and responded throughout all three major local fires
The rapid response from NAC RFS, neighbouring RFS brigades, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police, and other agencies coordinating road closures and evacuations helped ensure no lives were lost in our area.
Important Things to Note
⚠️ None of these local fires occurred on an Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating day. Had they occurred under those conditions, the outcome could have been very different.
⚠️ If NAC RFS had been committed outside the area, response times would have been longer. Brigades unfamiliar with local roads, tracks, water sources and access points would have needed to manage incidents, reducing operational effectiveness.
⚠️ Forecast higher temperatures and drier conditions could make the upcoming fire season one of the most challenging in recent years.
The Whole Community Needs to Be Better Prepared

✅ Everyone should know how emergency warnings and notifications are issued.
✅ Pre-Incident Plans should be prepared and shared with surrounding RFS brigades.
