At an average rate of close to one per month, our local Council acquires North Arm Cove non-urban lots under Section 10A(2)(b) of the Local Government Act 1993. The standard wording for the Council resolution has previously been:

1. That Council accept the transfer of Lot XXXX, North Arm Cove in payment of outstanding rates and meet transfer costs.
2. That the Common Seal be affixed to transfer documents.
3. That the property be classified as operational land.

GreyFest 2018

You are invited to join us at GreyFest (formerly the Grey & Thespian Mardi Gras) which is being held this year from 6-8th April. This year there are events being held in both Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens. GreyFest is organised by the Hawks Nest-Tea Gardens Progress Association. Activities include a golf competition, local history, free street and indoor entertainment, an Aussie bbq, a Bush Dinner Dance, Barefoot Bowls and a Concert entitled "Australia - Our Home". Brendan Guiney, Director Water Services of Midcoast Council (formerly Midcoast Water) has made the following official statement in relation to proposed activities being undertaken at Tea Gardens:

In December 2017 we were made aware of potentially illegal work being undertaken on land owned by Australian Pine Products Pty Ltd in Tea Gardens. We are working closely with other State Government departments to investigate the impacts of these activities.

MidCoast Water Services has a rigorous Drinking Water Quality Management System that includes a variety of tests on a regular basis. The recent tests indicate there is no change

There is a little over a week remaining to respond to the draft MidCoast Community Strategic Plan . Council will use this plan as a guide in its decision-making. It is up to us to respond if we want the direction Council takes to be relevant to us.

After the merger, a “What is MidCoast” project produced the following vision statement:

Autralia Day

Thank you and congratulations to the YESS Committee, organisers of the Australia Day event at Heros Beach. There was a large crowd and we had a wonderful day. The weather was kind, not too hot, and the kids, big and small, enjoyed playing in the water. The sausage sandwiches were great and there was plenty of cheer and good will.

A few Cove residents continued celebrating into the evening by attending the fireworks at Karuah RSL at 9pm. If you like your fireworks up close without big crowds, then you would have enjoyed this event. You could feel the...

"Councils" became a key topic at the recently-held January meeting of the Pindimar Bundabah Community Association (PBCA). Following discussions, the meeting resolved to investigate further whether a change of Council was possible for those villages and towns located on the northern shore of Port Stephens.

The jumbo-sized puzzle below completes the trilogy of Cove Holiday Cryptic Crossword Puzzles. This time round, many of the clues and/or answers have a bit of Australian flavour.
