If you haven't yet, maybe you are missing out on what has been described as the fastest growing sport in the US. And there are already some 1500 players in Australia.

Now you can join the crowd. Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis and it has come to North Arm Cove! Four players, a low net and a low-compression ball.

Pickleball is one of the games we learn in the Get Your Racquet On! program.

Our North Arm Cove host team of nine club members met at the court on Tuesday in preparation...

Did you know – just three sports have been proven world-wide to be socially inclusive whilst positively enhancing life, welfare and sustainability? One is tennis. (The others are golf and bowls – but who’s got the time for them??).

Apparently running around a court like an idiot whilst making silly attempts to knock a ball over a net, just so someone else can belt it back again is good for the bones, the muscles and the brain. (Was it Mae West who suggested that the fighting would stop if each side was given its own ball?)

With no contentious issues to resolve, the Club's general meeting ran smoothly. A small but regular group of people play frequently and attend the general meetings. A visit by people from Tennis NSW towards the end of last year confirmed that the club was exceptionally well run and congratulated Clyub Presidemt, Peter Chappelow, on his Governance Calendar which may be adopted for statewide use. There's always room for new players - just turn up at 9.00 am on Saturday for a game. See below for the minutes for the general meeting held on 4 April.

TENNIS NEWS
NOVEMBER 2017

The Annual General Meeting was held 7 October with the following people elected/re-elected:

President: Peter Chappelow
Vice President: to be appointed
Secretary: Susan Carter
Treasurer: Sue Anderson
Committee Member: Sandy Chappelow
Committee Member: Julie McGloin
Committee Member: Mandy Craig

A vote of thanks was made for the voluntary service put in over the past 12 months by the outgoing Committee, which I soundly endorse. Volunteers are the backbone of the community and provide many services and support which would simply not be available....

The recently completed tennis practice court and multi-use facility is already proving quite popular among both adults and kids. It is free to use and self-managed - that is, no booking is required.

Tennis Club President, Peter Chappelow said "This is another great addition to the Cove infrastructure and complements the Community Precinct project very well."

TENNIS NEWS

JUNE 2017

The good news is that the Multi Purpose Practice Court has been completed. David Read and his crew started work on 1 May and the slab (double in size) poured on 2 May. The basketball hoop was transferred to the western side of the slab to improve access and space for all. A great job by Dave and the boys, very much appreciated.

Olympic Fencing planned to start the chain link fence and roof on 22 May with completion on 23rd. All went to plan and the facility is ready...

The tennis club isn’t just about on-court play. We also like to get together socially for a pizza night at the community centre. At a general meeting on April 27 ( see minutes below ) the members decided that for the rest of the year it would be scheduled, when possible, for the first Saturday of the month, starting on May 6th. This was a great success. It also provided the opportunity for the club to hold another general meeting ( see minutes below ) to deal with several matters from the previous meeting. No decision has been made as...
