New volunteers needed for Residents Association Committee

By sirius, 24 September, 2017

With several of the current office bearers and committee members taking a break in this the Residents Association's 51st year, the Association is in need of several community-minded volunteers willing to step up and take their place. We need to maintain this long tradition of community service and representation. With a Council area of 10,000 square kilometres and a population of over 90,000 our small village on the Council's southern outskirts needs an active association to ensure its needs are addressed.

Are you able to contribute? More information can be obtained from the Association Secretary, Susan (4997 3395). A nomination form is attached below.

The AGM is to be held at 10 am on 14 October 2017 in the Hall. The following positions are subject to election:

President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer and three committee members.

The total number of committee members is to be seven. A committee member may hold up to two offices (other than President and Vice-president). If so, an extra non-office bearing committee member should be elected. Those standing, nominating and seconding must be financial members.

A nomination slip MUST be used if you would like to nominate someone for one of the above positions who will not be attending the AGM. A person who is not present at the AGM cannot be nominated without a signed slip. The slip should also be used to nominate someone who plans to attend the AGM.

Please hand the completed nomination slips to the Secretary (74 Cove Boulevard) before 7 October 2017.

  • If seven nominations are received, those persons nominated are said to be elected.
  • If insufficient nominations are received, candidates nominated are taken to be elected and further nominations are to be received at the AGM.
  • If there are still fewer than seven nominations, the committee may appoint a member to fill the vacancy.
  • If more than seven nominations are received, a ballot is to be held.
