Report of October RFS Meeting

By sch, 15 October, 2012

The NAC Fire Station has undergone further refurbishment with the installation of a desk for the computer equipment and new shelves for the storage of paperwork/records relating to operational matters of the Brigade. The slate floor is undergoing repairs and will be sealed. All this together with the new kitchen makes a greatly improved environment for member training sessions, meetings and general office activities.

A hazard reduction burn is still planned for the area north of the village, but as yet no date has been set. September was another quiet month for call-outs, but with a dry summer predicted, activity is sure to increase.

The Brigade is very short of active members and frequently has difficulty getting sufficient crew together to man vehicles for call-outs. We are appealing to members of the able-bodied community to please give consideration to joining. Being a volunteer fire-fighter is extremely rewarding, full fire-fighting training is given, with many opportunities to develop expertise in other areas of the Rural Fire Service. Meetings are held at the Fire Station on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.00pm and any one contemplating joining is invited to come and find out more, or to contact Brigade Captain Neal Cook on 4997 3058.
