Work started a few weeks ago at the back of the community garden shed - recent excavation has finished levelling and trenching in this area. At the time of writing, volunteers are busy constructing a retaining wall, which will partly incorporate composting bins. After that a slab will be formed and poured in readiness for timber framed walls suppporting the extension of the existing shed roof.

All this is to form a potting area and shadehouse to allow the garden group to propagate seedings which will eventually be planted in the community garden. It will be a beaut additional facility to a garden that is growing in size, variety and promise.

The garden group is always wanting to welcome new volunteers, we front up on a Wednesday morning for 2 hours starting 8:30am ish, at the end of which the picked produce is often shared around. Volunteers are not pressured to attend regularly or perform tasks beyond their abilities. Attending garden group is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, learn something new, or indeed share horticultural knowledge. New plant varieties and methods of growing are always encouraged.
