Already, this early in the season, we have had a small bush fire quite close our Village - an ominous warning of what might lie ahead this summer. An excellent, must-watch, series: Bushfires - Inside the Inferno began on SBS last night. Do check it out if you missed it. The footage of sustained ember attacks (which can occur 10, 15 or more kilometres ahead of the main fire-front) was quite startling. Despite the admirable hazard reduction work undertaken over recent months we still live in a high risk area. It is time now for us all to check that our homes are well prepared. It is time now for us to revisit and update our bush fire survival plans. Don't leave it until it is too late.
