Fame Cove matter back in Court

By leny, 18 March, 2017

The owner of the iconic Fame Cove/North Arm Cove waterfront site in Port Stephens will front the Land and Environment Court again next Friday (24 March) to face continuing charges of causing serious environmental damage and carrying out unauthorised work.

The court appearance follows a previous court decision imposing a four month stop work order on the site. This was in response to investigations by Mid Coast Council that revealed prolific devastation due to work being carried out beyond development consent, without permit or consultation.

Both North Arm Cove, Bundabah and Pindimar resident associations support the council’s decision to take the matter to court as this appears to be the only way to ensure the owner, Mr Phillip Dong Fang Lee, and his company LDF Enterprises (formerly Tea Garden Farms Pty Ltd), stop their unauthorised environmental destruction.

Mr Lee and his company have previously incurred fines and costs in excess of $250,000 for major environmental breaches on this 409 hectare site, which has high conservation value, including 6km of pristine waterfront.
