MidCoast Council has released its draft MidCoast Walking, Cycling and Trail-based Activity Strategy 2025 – 2035, and is seeking feedback on it until Wednesday 7 May

According to Council, the draft strategy “is an aspirational and asset focused planning document which considers multiple activities undertaken within our recreation portfolio, walking, cycling, and trail-based activities”.

Its main objective is to provide a framework for Council to increase participation in walking and cycling, prioritise its delivery and to improve the supporting infrastructure and resourcing for these activities in the region over its duration. It covers all forms of walking and cycling and includes urbanised areas, natural spaces and rural areas. The Strategy considers recreation activities such as walking, bushwalking, mountain biking and recreational road cycling.

The draft strategy contains two Action Plans – for walking and cycling, and bushwalking and trail-based activity – that are based on input from individual communities around the MidCoast region, and by evidenced based analysis of community needs.

There is one action for North Arm Cove in the walking and cycling action plan - Investigate public waterfront access pathways and build paths for pedestrian access to the water (page 34).

You can lodge feedback on the strategy through the following link: MidCoast Walking, Cycling and Trail-based Activity Strategy | Have Your Say

A copy of the strategy is attached and can be downloaded below.

Money spent on doing what  you are supposed to do like storm water drains is a better way to spend OUR rates.People can go for walks as I do without walking tracks and as for  a cycling track for the Cove I have only ever seen about 3 people riding a bike and I personally do not know anyone who owns a push bike.

A bike and walk track in the Cove would cost a fortune, and there are far more important things to spend our money on eg storm water drains fixing the pot holes properly or maybe  even do something anything to prevent morons doing burnouts.

ps I thought the council had no money to spend on eg proper storm water drains instead of 3rd world spoon drains !
