Free Movies Available from Mid Coast Council Libraries

Forget subscribing to a monthly streaming service… MidCoast Council’s library members now have over 30,000 films at their fingertips, for free.

Through a partnership with Kanopy, the amazingly popular on-demand film streaming service, library card holders can access what New York Times describes as “a garden of cinematic delights”.

Content that covers movies, TV shows, documentaries, kids programs and more can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV or Chromecast.

“We’re really excited to be launching this free service,” says MidCoast Council’s Manager of Libraries, Chris Jones.

“The range of titles is incredible and offers content you just won’t find from other streaming services, as well as popular and current titles. You could spend years working your way through them all.”

The service caters for all tastes and interests, with award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favourites, contemporary, indie and classic films, popular television series, and educational content across hundreds of topics.

For families with children, it also provides access to an extensive catalogue of kids entertainment.

Kanopy is free for library members, and registration is simple. To get started visit www.midcoastlibraries.com.au/eservices, click through to the Kanopy site, and sign-up using your active library membership card. Once registered, you’ll have access to up to six free films each month.

“With such a diverse and exciting range of films on offer, and new content being added all the time, our members will be spoilt for choice. I’d challenge anyone to browse the catalogue and not come away with a watch-list to last them all year,” Chris said.

This free service is brought to the local community by MidCoast Council’s libraries, your place to connect, explore, learn and enjoy.
