Loosely Woven a smash hit

By Annie44, 23 February, 2017

The Loosely Woven concert at the Community Hall on Saturday 18 February attracted a full house.  In fact, some eager concert goers who rang to book in the final days before the event had to be knocked back. YESS  organiser Joan Williams was sad to have to turn people away, but the committee is already working on getting  Loosely Woven back in the near future.

And what a concert it was - everything from classical to pop to rock.  The audience was encouraged to sing along and joined in with gusto.  Meanwhile out in the kitchen the ladies from YESS were busily plating up enough sandwiches and cakes to feed the cast and audience of just over 100.

The first half of the program was a mix of old and new, with numbers like Blue Bayou, You're My World and Accidentally Kelly Street.

In the second half of the program, Loosely Woven donned full costume to delight the audience with excerpts from the Beggars Opera.

They finished up with some rousing rock n' roll and a few brave audience members even took to the floor for a bit of jitterbugging.

With such a big audience and cast, the Hall's air conditioning struggled to keep up but despite the heat the concert was a huge success and the YESS committee have been swamped with compliments which they have passed on to Wayne Richmond from Loosely Woven.  In turn, Wayne has thanked YESS and the people of North Arm Cove for such a warm and friendly reception.

The date for the next Loosely Woven concert is not confirmed but the YESS committee will definitely be scheduling it during the cooler months.
