MidCoast Council is developing the next version of its Disability Inclusion Action Plan to support its commitment to creating more inclusive communities.

Preliminary consultation is now underway.

The Disability Inclusion Action Plan helps Council to identify the barriers and challenges faced by those in our community who are living with a disability, as well as their carers (paid or unpaid), friends and family.

This plan will guide Council's activities for the next four years as it seeks funding and support to make improvements in the areas identified by community members with disability experiences.

Council wants to ensure that everybody has the same opportunities to participate in life and is carrying out two surveys to help it understand the relationship between the way people with disabilities function and how they participate in society.

Council is urging anyone with a disability to complete the appropriate survey, while friends, families, carers, service providers and the general community have an opportunity to share their thoughts in a separate survey.

Council would like the new plan to be a true reflection of what our community needs so it needs real feedback from community members.
