Saturday's SMH reports on the $39.9m purchase of a Point Piper mansion by Fame Cove developer, Phillip Dong Fang Lee set a record for an Australian non-waterfront house. But, says the SMH,
it is his 400-hectare eco-resort development, still in the planning stages, that has piqued the interest of the Port Stephens community.
"We're looking at a huge development opportunity for Great Lakes in what is likely to be a six-star resort that will potentially cost about $200 million to develop," said general manager of the Great Lakes Council Glenn Handford.
"We're awaiting concept plans for the built form now, but we're expecting it to be a huge development opportunity for the southern part of the shire."
