The February General Meeting of the North Arm Cove Residents Association was an opportunity to bring the community up-to-date with the activities of the association over the past two months. Despite this being the Festive Season, the Exec Committee has been busy pursuing projects resulting from our grants.
The Boat ramp and Water Access sub-committee reported that the dinghy racks at Water St. and Casuarina Park are now installed and are being used. It is noted that removal of the dinghies from the grass at Water St. has encouraged parking on the grass, and so GLC has been approached to resolve this problem. The landscaping proposed in the CBBP grant has been put on hold until after the dinghy launching ramps are installed. Design of the ramps and associated revetment work is to be undertaken within the next few weeks.
Janine Reid gave a very informative Aquaculture report (see February Agenda on Website). Some discussion followed about the levels of pollution in Cove waters, and it was resolved that the organisation write to GLC requesting action on this.
Other items reported included the purchase of a water tank by the Garden Club; that the Heros Beach Management Plan is to be presented to the February GLC meeting; and that the Social sub-committee has put regular social gatherings on hold for the moment, owing to the fact that the Exec Committee consists only of five people, and are stretched to the limit. We appeal once again for volunteers to join us.
Delivery of the Nota to the Community Hall will resume again, thanks to Jim Pegram, who is taking over from Angelique Schirk who is no longer able to do this. Thank you to both people for this service.
It was proposed that guest speakers be invited to address our meetings on topics of interest or concern to Cove residents. Any suggestions from the community are welcome , please pass them on to the exec. Committee
Next meeting Saturday, 12th April at 10.00am.
