Those who attended the General Meeting of the North Arm Cove Residents Association on Sat 14th June were fortunate to hear Jane Burrage-Swift, Senior Leader Southern District Ageing Services speak on the facilities available to Cove residents to enable them to live on in their own homes as their age increases and their ability to cope with many daily chores decreases. She was accompanied by Mrs May Pickles, a long-time Cove resident and shining example of how, by taking advantage of the social occasions offered by Jane's group, one can remain active and vitally interested in all life has to offer. Talking to her I was exhausted just hearing of all her activities, I doubt that I could keep up!

The long-awaited village map is finally in place near the intersection of Market Way and Uralla St. The pull-in area to view the map still has to have some “tidying up” done, and Great Lakes Council will do this when the ground has dried up. It will be a great relief to finally sign off on this project.

The Committee will be applying for a Grant in order to start implementing some of the amenities approved in the Management Plan for Heros Beach. GLC will need to carry out engineering work in this Reserve, so we will need to ensure that whatever we undertake will not be disturbed by this.

Work at Casuarina Reserve and Water St. is still awaiting Council action, however the staff involved are well aware of our deadlines and have assured us “not to panic”. We expect things to start moving again in the next few weeks.

The Associations AGM will be held at our next meeting which is Sat. 9th August. There are a number of vacancies on the committee, so please Residents, give consideration to joining this worthwhile organisation. Nomination forms are available from the Secretary, Annette Searle on 4997 3191.
