After all the rain in the last few years, our mud flats seem even muddier. I used to be spry enough to run across the top of the mud flats without sinking too far, but those days are gone.
Our neighbours have different ways with dealing with the problem. The mud boots in the photos belong to one of our neighbours and they do the job quite nicely. Our neighbours on the other side have two planks of wood with rope tied to each piece. They step on one plank at a time and drag the other plank forward with the rope, gradually making their way forward.
In case a quick water exit is required, I think either technique will work, provided you are fit enough.
