Would you like to become a writer, ever had the urge to get something down on paper? Maybe you already have. There is a writing group in North Arm Cove that would like to see you come along to one of their meetings at no cost to you or obligation. If you haven't written anything yet don't worry, just come along and listen, it's free for first timers. The meetings are held at the Community Hall commencing 6.30 PM on the third Thursday of every month except December when we have our Christmas Party. Meetings for the remainder of 2013...

Hi Everyone,

Disappointing to report the closing of the ABC Bookshop Sunset Books in Raymond Terrace on 28th February. I was there and sad to see the furniture and fittings, bookshelves going out the door let alone all the books discounted by 80%. The Manager Greg Field had been nery supportive of myself, Bob Bush, Ron Stewart And Wayne Jarman not to mention other local writers not in our group. I send him our best wishes for the future in whatever he does. Christmas won't be the same without the four amigoes outside busking on the footpath.

Greetings Fellow Writers.

Happy New Year, seems like a long time since it was 2012. Troops I have emerged from the summer hibernation and thought I better get something in here before I get the bullet. Well what do I know.......

1. First meeting in 2013 next Thursday 21st February 6.30 pm at the usual.

2. Ron Stewart, Bob Bush and myself did a bit of busking in front of Sunset Books at the Terrace to help Greg Field with his closing down sale. Unfortunately 28th February seems to be it. We did ok and sold a...

Fellow Scribblers,

Well the Christmas Party has come and gone and a good day was it too. Heaps of food and some great poems / stories about Christmas.

That is all except two....recited by alleged mates who couldn't agree on what actually happened on the day an incident occurred which has become local folklore. People talk in hushed whispers, cover their mouth with hands and generally are in a state of disbelief...the unthinkable had happened...a Suzuki Vitara bogged, the unboggable bogged...I MEAN HOW GOOD"S THAT...takes skill to do that and in one of the poems read out by...

Just to let you know the slackest editor on this website is back on the job.....Moi. Always probing, ear to the ground, uncompromising, never letting the truth get in the way of a good story or lie and full of BS.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 18TH: It's ho ho ho time up at the hall. Be there at 12 noon or be square. There will be a Christmas Party BBQ. Mighty Mo (nacfaw) is going to buy the meat so please bring along some salads, deserts etc. Also bring along something you have written thats a bit Christmasy to read out....

We now have our very own portable P A System. Bob Bush, wife Bev and Garry Boyd went to Musso's Corner in Newcastle and purchased one. It was less expensive than we thought, portable and powered by AC DC or a rechargeable battery. It was trialled by Bob, Garry and Ron Stewart at the Vacy Carnival and passed with flying colours. Was also used at the September monthly meeting and all were pleased with its performance. On behalf of the group thanks to Bob Bush for numerous loans of his personal P A System. Bob you can borrow ours anytime...

I suppose a quiet achiever is someone who goes about their business with a minimum of fuss. What else could describe Margaret Wilson and husband Mark who singlehandedly have produced a little gem of a book "Footprints on the Bed, a Collection of Poems". Margaret wrote 'em and Mark published 'em.Folks I have written a few books and writing them is hard enough without the added burden of publishing, printing and binding. And to top it all off the end result of their efforts is as professional as they come. Margaret well done, Mark take a bow. At $15 a...
