Australia Day celebrations - a thank you to the organisers

The Australia Day celebrations at Heros Beach were a great success.

They started off with a flag raising ceremony and singing the national anthem, and were followed by a sausage sizzle, lots of talking, catching up, eating and drinking, and some games later on.

And the swimming, it was a hot and muggy day without much breeze, and even though the tide was out, many people enjoyed a cooling swim and a natter and a drink in the water! It was pleasing to see lots of children there too, having a good time playing in the water.

I couldn't count how many people were there, but it seemed like about a hundred. I was told there were more people than last year because there weren't any sausages left over this time.

I would like to thank the organisers of the event and those that helped tidy up the reserve the day before - they did an excellent job in setting it up and making sure Covid safe entry arrangements were in place.

SO TO EVERYBODY THAT HELPED TIDY UP THE RESERVE, AND ORGANISE AND RUN THE EVENT - ON BEHALF OF YOUR COMMUNITY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR A WONDERFUL DAY.
