Bundabah 2001

With the current bush fire devastation on the south coast, there has been a lot of discussion in the community about the possible threats to North Arm Cove. The greatest risk is probably from the north west. However, we have had previous fires in the Bundabah/Pindimar area where the smoke and ash have affected North Arm Cove.

The picture shows a fire on 6 January 2001 that burnt to the waterline near Bundabah. We had days of smoke and ash but luckily no embers. When you look up at the hills in the area near Carrington and Fame Cove you can see brown patches where the trees are suffering from lack of water. In these current extreme conditions, bush fires can come from any direction and we need to be prepared for all possibilities.
