I had thought that this particular annoying scam had been successfully stamped out: the one where someone rings you claiming to be from Telstra then telling you that your internet will be disconnected immediately, as your computer is threatening Telstra’s internet infrastructure. That scam has been listed on scamwatch since 2014.
But over the past week I have had 5 of these annoying scam phonecalls - all from Victorian numbers but possibly originating in an off-shore call centre. I give the caller a little bit of a lecture about being involved in a scam. Usually they hang up as soon as they are challenged. Otherwise the best approach is to hang up on them. In no circumstances hand over any of your information to any "cold call" like this.
The Solar Panel scam calls have been coming now for more than 5 years. Hopefully noone is falling for this scam either.
