Free Training-Migratory Shorebird Ecology and Identification

By janiner, 31 October, 2020

Hunter Local Land Services and BirdLife Australia are hosting a series of Shorebird Training Workshops to engage the local community with migratory shorebirds and train volunteers interested in being a part of shorebird surveys.

We will be running four workshops at:

1. Hawks Nest Golf Club (covering Port Stephens estuary) - November 11th
2. Coopernook Community Hall (covering Manning estuary) - November 24th
3.Hunter Wetlands Centre (covering Hunter estuary) - November 30th and December 2nd

Each workshop will entail a half day of theory covering an introduction on migratory shorebird ecology, shorebird identification and survey techniques. This will be followed by a trip to a local shorebird site to practice these skills in the field assisted by myself and local volunteers.

Details of the dates and times are outlined on the attached flyer. Please feel free to share this email and/or flyer within your organisation/group and with whomever you think would be interested in attending. Due to COVID restrictions, the workshops are limited to only 20 people. If you would like to attend, please send your expression of interest to milly.formby@birdlife.org.au.

Many thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Kind regards,
