Council has undertaken a floodplain risk management study and plan for the northern foreshores of Port Stephens, which includes North Arm Cove, Bundabah, Carrington and Pindimar.
A draft of this study is now on public exhibition until 9 December 2020.
The study uses updated elevation data to accurately map inundation in the area based on previous studies undertaken in 2010.

It includes a series of maps that show the extent of predicted inundation from flooding taking into account sea level rise and wave run-up.
I have read the study and unfortunately the maps do not clearly show the extent of potential flooding on individual properties.
Council is holding an information session at its Tea Gardens office next Tuesday 10 November between 3pm and 6pm. The consultants who undertook the study will be in attendance and will be able to show residents the estimated flood inundation on individual properties.
At our property, the estimated flood level is some 1.7m about current maximun high tide level, which means our boatshed is underwater, but our house is OK.
I suggest that residents attend the information session and find out what the potential impact could be on their property.
The flood study information will ultimately be used in planning controls.
