An application for an abalone farm at Clarke St, Pindimar has been withdrawn.
The Pindimar Bundabah Community Association has been fighting this proposal for nearly two decades. The proposed farm would have been land based and was to include tanks, ponds and sheds. Sea water would have been used in the ponds and waste water would have been piped out into the Port.
The main concern was regarding the nutrients being returned to the Port via the waste water and the long term effects that this water would have on the aquatic environment. The local residents were also concerned about the impact of an industrial type development on their doorstep with increased noise and traffic.
