When you look out the window...................

………..what do you see?

A beautiful, diverse and unpolluted environment? Housing, good jobs and a high standard of living for all? Poverty and discrimination in decline? A proud, young multicultural nation in its right place as a world leader in all things clever?

If the answers are yes, yes, yes and yes, you must be very confident in our political leaders. You must believe that they are directing our taxes and their energies in ways which best serve us and future generations of Australians. The lucky country.

But perhaps your window isn’t quite so clear. Cracked even. Maybe, as a kid and young adult, the world to you looked big and exciting with endless opportunities and few threats. But now you are not so sure things are turning out the way you had hoped. The sense of direction is lost. Promises are made and broken. The in-fighting at the top end is endless, destructive and divisive. All this while the climate forecasters are predicting world temperatures will rise by a life-threatening 3° by the century’s end.

Our long-term Lyne representative at the federal level is retiring. A new door is opening. A fabulous new opportunity is coming to front a new bright young candidate who can bring to our electorate of Lyne some fresh ideas, energy and hope. Someone who comes unburdened with the past.

There’s a new initiative in our region called Independent Lyne. A growing group of dissatisfied voters has formed a movement to find this person.  The group’s website is independentlyne.org where their reasons-for-being and objectives are defined:

“Independent Lyne is not a political party. We are a non-partisan group of people who are passionate about getting better outcomes for the communities and people of the Lyne electorate. Our journey towards an independent representative for Lyne is people-powered, purposeful and collaborative, united by wanting genuine community representation and propelled by the urgency of the issues that face us.”

Could you be just the change-agent this campaign is looking for? Or maybe you are simply someone who’d like to be part of this growing movement of voters, to get involved in the process which could get us away from the traditional two-party confrontational way of getting, or not getting, things done?

Either way, this is your chance. Read the website and seriously consider signing up.
