Building a stronger community

Another year has almost slipped away from us. Politicians have headed home. TV stations have moved into silly-season programming. It is time, once again, for bush fires, blow flies and beaches. And it seems, as December begins, we are already well into the 2016 Christmas Party season.

At the next Residents Association meeting (10am on 10 December) there will be yet another chance for you to come together, with others from our village community, to celebrate.

Here in the Cove this Christmas we have a great deal to be thankful for. Although a small village, we have consistently achieved well beyond expectations and 2016 has been no exception.

We are indeed fortunate. But such good fortune is only attained thanks to the generous contributions from those willing volunteers in our village.

Our application which sought a grant of $47,940 for work on developing our Community Precinct was successful. It was one of the largest Stronger Community grants awarded. This success means that 2017 will be another busy year for the Cove community.

This is a big project, valued at around $60,000 when volunteer time is included. We will need all available hands to volunteer to assist. From weeding, planting and mulching to sowing grass, laying paths and more, there will be a wide range of tasks for working bees and individual volunteers.

How can you help? Come along to the Hall on Saturday December 10 and hear what is planned.

Also joining us at this meeting will be representatives from the Karuah Pharmacy who will outline their proposals to make life for residents in the Cove even easier.

Then, following the meeting help us celebrate the achievements of the year over a little bit of Christmas cheer.

See the meeting agenda below.
