Fame Cove Update

By tonyh, 2 July, 2015

The Friends of Fame Cove team met today with Lisa Schiff, GLC's Director of Planning, to hear from her the latest position regarding the development situation for the 400 hectare site across the water.

Those that have been following the very long saga of 'progress' on this land will know that the present owner through his company Tea Gardens Farms P/L, contracted the GLC to conduct a feasibility study to assess the kind of developments that might be suited to the four subdivisions. That work has been completed but Lisa advised the team that no concept plan had been submitted by the owner at this stage, and that his intentions are not known to the Council.

However the owner is currently in Australia and has appointed local architects for concept planning work. He has also has brought in two high level  members of his own staff who will reside locally to manage the project.

Further meetings with the owner have been arranged for this month. Lisa says she will keep us informed as soon as she has specific information concerning his intentions.

The scale of the final proposals will probably be quite significant and, as such, will be assessed in their final form by the State Department of Planning and determined by the Planning Assessment Commission (PAC).

The Friends of Fame Cove team is a small group of Covers who have agreed to maintain a watching brief on this important project. The group's objectives are to report progress to our community and to express community views or concerns on the ways the project might impact on our area. The group does not have an agenda to oppose the development of this land.
