GLC Stormwater Project etc.

Report

We have been advised by the GLC that the start on the long awaited stormwater drainage improvement program is imminent. Work will begin at 10 Cove Boulevard late September and move to 110 Cove Boulevard for the second stage. We don't know at this point what area will receive focus next. Watch this spot.

After questioning the proposed link between east and west The Esplanade, we  are told, "The proposal from RFS is for a 4m wide road link on The Esplanade and funding for this is awaiting their allocation which would normally come in October but has in the past been delayed until December.  As for the design, we (GLC) have not taken any steps to determine what width is acceptable to Council's road s and traffic engineers. It has only been looked at from a fire perspective and we can see issues with a road 4m wide. So this aspect will need to be reviewed."

After the sad debacle over the house fire in April where two fire trucks lost 20 minutes attending the fire by mistakenly going down Cove Boulevard first, the Council has agreed to review our street signage problems.Currently directions to Cove Boulevard, Point Circuit and Barromee Way are depicted by a No Through Road sign. House number directions to The Esplanade are confusing, and there is no sign to Eastslope Way south.

We are still waiting for the Council to re-erect our new village map after it was vandalised early this year.

If you have other issues with street signage, please contact me, Tony Hann on 4997 3583.
