Great news announced at the Residents Assocation meeting held last Saturday (13 April) that the Association has been successful in obtaining $25,000 in the 2012 round of the NSW Community Building Partnerships grants. This is the second grant received by the Association for North Arm Cove this year for works around the Cove!
The approved project will implement some of the Council-developed plans approved for the reserves at Water Street and Casuarina. To complete the project (works estimated to cost around $33,000), additional contributions will need to come from Council and from our Cove Community either in cash or through volunteer effort. The proposals include the construction of dinghy racks at both sites to free up space for more general use. The aims of the project include:
- making the reserves more usable for general recreation by members of the community,
- protecting the existing trees from further damage,
- regenerating the vegetation and providing screening where appropriate,
- providing park benches for seating,
- repairing existing picnic facilities at Casuarina,
- having an initial provision for a fifteen-dinghy rack at Water Street and an eight-dinghy rack at Casuarina
It is hoped that this work will quickly lead on to further works including action to facilitate dinghy launching at both reserves
Thank you to the NACRA team
Thank you to the NACRA team for this sucessful submission. The boat racks at Water Street will be a great asset for tidying up the area and making the access and storage of the dinghies more ordered and hopefully will reduce some of the adjee barjee between boat owners.
