You may have heard that the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority, under the co-ordination of the NSW department of Primary Industries, undertook some time ago to start a program for the clearance of derelict oyster leases in Port Stephens (see http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/archive/news-releases/fishing-and-aquaculture/2011/out-with-old-oyster-leases ). Well good things come to those who are prepared to wait (or who have no choice but to wait). This photo was taken this morning from our property in North Arm Cove. I have contacted the DPI but, at this point, I can't advise how many leases are destined for clearance here Will report back. Meanwhile, it will be very interesting to study the impact on our waterway over the months to come.
