Over the holidays we get the usual hoons out on the water, speeding close to shore, creating noise, waves and dangerous conditions for people using the area between the oyster leases and the shore. If you want to see how fast your tinny, boat or jet ski will go, please move into the middle of the waterway instead of racing along close to shore.
Another reason for slowing down- last week we saw a large turtle pop up on the shore side of the oyster lease off Eastslope Way, OL86/138. We also get dolphins fishing in and around the oyster leases.
Beware boating around OL86/138. The south-west corner boundary post (Water Street end) is missing. Also, some of the white boundary posts are poorly marked and the flags near the top indicating access ways have been turned around on some of the posts.
