Fines issued to North Arm Cove Residents

Councillor Len Roberts has reported that two fines have been issued to North Arm Cove residents for allowing the contents of their septic tanks to overflow.Council recently appointed a temporary full time Plumbing Inspector to inspect all high risk systems and North Arm Cove and Bundabah are high on the list for periodic inspections.

Council in conjunction with the University of Newcastle continues the water quality monitoring and sampling program in the Cove. This monitoring is in addition to the testing carried out by oyster farmers for the NSW Food Authority. Septic systems at North Arm Cove have been identifed as one of the most likely sources of water pollution in the Cove.

The North Arm Cove Residents Association has recently written to the NSW Food Authority requesting a copy of the latest test results.
