White Lady Finger Orchid

Lady Finger Orchids (caladenia catenata) have been in flower in the Cove since April. The plants are about 15cm tall and there is usually a single flower on a single stem. The flowers are white with a yellow tipped labellum. The plants are deciduous and die back to the ground in summer.

If you wish to see these plants, they can occasionally be seen along the bush tracks in the Cove. There are also quite a few on the western side of Cove Boulevarde south of Point Circuit.

There are also some pale pink orchids which are probably the rare pink variety of the Lady Finger Orchid. However, there is a very similar orchid called Dusky Fingers which is similar in appearance to the Lady Finger Orchid. If there are any orchid experts in the Cove, perhaps they can enlighten us as to which variety are currently flowering in the Cove.
