We’re progressively upgrading playgrounds across the region, focusing on modern facilities that are customised and offer durability specific to their location, explained Dan Aldridge, MidCoast Council’s Manager, Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades. This comment was made while announcing that, commencing this week, MidCoast Council’s parks team "will be undertaking a revamp of an existing playground in the village of Limeburners Creek with removal of the worn play equipment".
MidCoast Council manages 86 parks across the MidCoast region. The Council website mentions that the region "is home to over 148 beautiful parks, gardens, recreation areas and playgrounds". Entries for villages in the local area include:
- Bundabah: Steve Rich reserve. A waterside reserve alongside the stunning North Arm Cove. The reserve offers a boat ramp, picnic shelter, settings, BBQ and fish cleaning table.
- Pindimar: Curlew Avenue. This reserve is 800 metres in length and is level, making walking easy. Access to the Karuah River (?) is via boat ramp and there is a BBQ and picnic shelters.
- Pindimar: Leone Fidden Memorial Park has been a community project from its inception. The community has worked hard to install some basic skate park units as well as a toddler suitable playground, basketball area and hitup wall.
As with the work undertaken in reserves in North Arm Cove, the provision of the above facilities has been as a result of significant local community effort - and their upkeep requires the ongoing effort of local volunteers.
Curiously, not one reserve in North Arm Cove village has made it onto the current Council list of parks, gardens, recreation areas and playgrounds.

Yes Doug, thanks raising this. I thought about all the Volunteer effort and hard work put into the maintenance of our Reserves that appear not to exist on Council records. As Alice said, "curiouser and curiouser". Just had to ask for an explanation which came back very quickly. Whew!. They do exist, issue arose from records still in the process of being brought together from the recent amalgamations. There are Parkes and Reserves from a number of areas across the merged Councils missing from the list. This is work in progress in updating files. I am reassured now the Park across the road is real.
