Royal HaskoningDHV were the successful tenderers to undertake masterplanning studies for boating redevelopment initiatives in the Great Lakes region. The four studies that are included in this project cover: North Arm Cove; Tea Gardens / Hawks Nest; Tahlee; and Nerong. For North Arm Cove, the study requires Haskoning to identify and prioritise locations for boat ramp and jetty plus locations for additional jetties and pontoons for public use.

The consultants from Haskoning have already been very busy collecting information on various potential sites and investigating the possibilities and limitations. At this stage they are planning to have some sort of information-exchange session for the Cove community sometime in July (and probably a survey) with a view to preparing a draft report for Council and RMS in August. That report will include approximate costings and impacts.

Haskoning is a very experienced, independent, international engineering and project management consultancy. One of their projects last year was the updating NSW Boat Ramp Facilities Guidelines. That means that they really do know what they are talking about.

So what we can expect out of this study is some firm recommendations for locations for a public boat ramp and jetty together with approximate costings. Hopefully the report will get Council and RMS endorsement. Then, with an approved plan, all we will need is the funding!
