MidCoast Council has made the Draft Boating Plans for our region available on-line. The North Arm Cove ones are attached below ...

If you’re a boatie, kayaker, paddle boarder or just have a love for the water around this region,  you’re invited to have your say on the boating infrastructure plan.

The Council team has been working in partnership with the NSW Government’s Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) on this project to proactively identify future boating requirements in the towns of Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest, North Arm Cove and Nerong. The investigation has been carried out by Royal Haskoning consultants and is part of the NSW Boating Now program, which aims to ensure that our waterways remain safe and accessible.

The draft plans include the Nerong Boating Redevelopment Plan , North Arm Cove Boating Development Plan and Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest Foreshore Redevelopment Plan. They can all be found on Council’s website here: www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/DraftBoatingPlans. We’ve also included simplified concept plans for each location on the website if you don’t feel like wading through the larger reports, but still want to know what is proposed.

With boat ownership in our region up there with the highest in the state and the number of people kayaking/canoeing having doubled since 2005, we’d like to hear from locals about what extra facilities they’d like to see and anything else they can think of that would enhance their experience.

Community members are invited to have their say on these draft plans in a number of ways:

In person by attending one of three drop in sessions at:

Nerong Community Hall on Monday 17 October between 10am and 1pm
Tea Gardens Council District Office on Monday 17 October between 3pm and 6pm
North Arm Cove Community Hall on Tuesday 18 October between 10am and 1pm)

Phone 1800 738 3773 (1800 REVERSE) between 9am and 5pm and nominate 8854 5000 as the number to accept reverse charges.

Email your submission to PA1268@project.rhdhv.com

Post your submission to Level 14, 56 Berry Street North Sydney NSW 2060

Submissions will be accepted until Sunday 23 October 2016.

Thanks Doug for posting these reports and maps. It is great to read the great level of detail and care that has gone into the analysis of all the factors. All the potential sites for boat ramp and the jetty/pontoon and even ferry ideas are so well thought through from such a broad base of evidence... very impressive (and probably expensive) reports. A pity that the million dollar bill for each option underpins their conclusion that it would be difficult to justify such public expenditure... Interesting to note that RMS are intending to increase NAC moorings from 45 to 70... perhaps the solution is smaller infrastructure in the form of more distributed tinny/kayak storage/launching options at the various public water access ways... so that people can get to their moorings :-) regards, Darrall Thompson (Cove Blvd.)
