I am pleased to advise that we have been offered a grant of up to $90,606 from round 4 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund program to build a sealed exercise track with outdoor exercise stations and seating at Yallarwah Park.
The attached concept plan shows a layout of what we are planning.
This project was originally part of the βGive us a heartβ project in 2016 which resulted in the formation of Yallarwah Park and the existing walking track.
The existing track was constructed in 2017 and is of gravel construction. Over time it has deteriorated due to weeds and heavy rainfall events, and as such it is difficult to use for young children and adult walkers, and in particular elderly residents.
This proposal will reconfigure and shorten the track so it is nearly level, seal the surface using hot mix asphalt or concrete, install two exercise stations each containing three types of exercise equipment, and install additional seating and a picnic table.
It is expected that the upgraded walking track will be used extensively by North Arm Cove residents and visitors, and it will contribute significantly to improved health and fitness. It will be safe and easy to use for elderly residents, people with wheelchairs and walkers, and young children.
Over the next couple of months we will be finalising the layout and design, the selection of exercise stations and seating arrangements, and the costing so we can ensure that the project is completed within the grant funding. We will also be liaising with MidCoast Council to ensure that we meet their requirements, and adjacent residents to make sure they are happy with what is planned.
We anticipate that construction will start in about 2-3 months, and be completed by the end of this year.
I would like to thank the NSW Government, Deputy Premier Paul Toole and the Stronger Country Communities Fund for making this grant available. It is greatly appreciated.
The photos show examples of exercise equipment recently installed at a park in Epping. This is the type of equipment that we are considering.
If you have experience in this type of outdoor exercise facility or suggestions for equipment I would love to hear from you, so please contact me at president.naccai@gmail.com.
On behalf of our community, I
On behalf of our community, I thank Bob and the NACCAi crew for putting in the time and effort to get this money. I know a lot of work and patience must have gone into the application for the long term benefit of our community.
